Transfer News: Chelsea to make announcement regarding the signing new 26-year-old right-back in January

 Without much doubts, Chelsea football club will most definitely remain keen on further strengthening their defensive options by signing a new defender under the management of Mauricio Pochettino this year.

The West London club have endured a rather disappointing start to the 2023/2024 football season despite splashing the cash to complete the signings of several first-team players including Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia and Nicolas Jackson last summer.

Chelsea football club are currently occupying the 8th position on the Premier League table, and with experienced right-back Reece James currently out injured, the Blues will be on the lookout for defensive reinforcements this month.

And if reports are anything to go by, then Chelsea football club have been linked with a transfer move for experienced Southampton right-back Kyle Walker-Peters this year.

The 26-year-old England International, who signed up for Southampton after departing Tottenham Hotspur back in 2020 has been an important member of the first-team squad in recent seasons.

The experienced right-back was hugely involved for Southampton football club during the 2022/2023 season where he scored one goal in 38 appearances in all competitions.

Kyle Walker-Peters has also been hugely involved for Southampton so far this ongoing 2023/2024 seson, scoring two goals and providing two assists in the 27 matches he has played.

His excellent performances in defence is believed to have caught the attention of Chelsea football club and according to latest reports from Transfer News Live, the Blues are keen on signing him this month.

The reports further claimed that Chelsea football club are really interested in the experienced Kyle Walker-Peters and are set to make a transfer move for him before the window closes.

It is believed that Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino wants an ideal replacement for the injured Reece James and he has identified Kyle Walker-Peters as a needed addition to his first-team squad.

But then, it remains to be seen if Southampton football club will be interested in listening to transfer offers from Chelsea football club for the experienced Kyle Walker-Peters before the end of the January transfer window.
