It is confirmed that 21-year-old Chelsea Player has just agreed personal terms to join another club

Sky journalist Patrick Berger has claimed that one Chelsea player has now agreed personal terms over a potential move away this month.

He took to Twitter to state that Ian Maatsen has agreed everything with Borussia Dortmund, and is now waiting on the two clubs agreeing a deal.

It has been widely claimed that Maatsen is one of the players the club are willing to part ways with this month in order to balance the books more going into 2024.

Another lavish spending spree in the summer on the likes of Moises Caicedo, Cole Palmer and Christopher Nkunku has seen them probably needing to make some sales before they can add further talent to their squad.

The Blues actually accepted a bid for Maatsen in the final hours of the summer transfer window from Burnley, however he decided to sit tight as he felt he had a chance at breaking into the first team following a strong pre-season campaign.

This has clearly not happened, and he sits on just one league start for the club under Mauricio Pochettino.

Berger has now claimed that personal terms are all agreed between the player and Dortmund over a potential transfer, although Chelsea are still not satisfied with the terms as of yet.

He said: “Ian Maatsen still only wants to go to Dortmund and has informed Chelsea of his wish. According to Sky information, the left-back agrees with Borussia Dortmund.

“Everything depends on the Blues, who actually want an obligation to buy. Negotiations are ongoing…”

It has been surprising that Pochettino has not looked to utilise the 21-year-old in his natural position of left back more this season as a result of the recent injury crisis there.

Instead, he has decided that Levi Colwill, a centre-back, has been the better option to feature out wide.
